“Mobile Catch King-of-Kings” Camera/Phone Mount

I spotted this recently in an optical retailers shop in Edinburgh and thought I’d give it a go, considering it was selling for only £5 – over £30 cheaper than you can find it on Amazon. Despite its awful sounding name I was really impressed with it. It comes in three sections, the clamp, an adjustable camera adapter mount, and an adjustable mobile phone mount. It is advertised as supporting up to 60kg in total weight, which is way beyond the realms of standard cameras, and I found it supported my DSLR firmly with no movement at all, something I find my Gorillapod cannot.

When opened fully the clamp acts like a mini tripod, and can easily support a mobile phone if placed on a flat, stable surface. Otherwise it can be clamped to a variety of surfaces; tree branches, fence posts, walking poles, bicycles; it’s limited only by the width of the clamp. All the fittings are standard 1/4″ camera mounts.

By purchasing a Go-Pro adapter then it is also possible to use this to mount a Go-Pro camera using the system, and it’s also worth noting that the mobile phone adapter can be used with other tripod systems too, making this a cheap and useful addition to your camera gear.
