Caldercruix Quarry Planning Application Submitted

Fault (9)

A planning application has now been submitted to North Lanarkshire Council to reopen and extend Hillend Quarry at Caldercruix. The picture above was taken at a fault line on the north side of the Lilly Loch, only a few hundred yards from the quarry. The hillside dropped by around 7 feet and is now extremely unstable.

The quarry is expected to extend westwards towards Annieshill, and would affect the Moffat Hills above Calgercruix. This is a fantastic area for walking, used regularly by walkers of all ages from the village, and is home to many types of birds and animals, including Sparrowhawks, Kestrels and Buzzards.

All documentation is available to view at North Lanarkshire Councils website by clicking HERE.

You can also voice your concerns to Councillor Alan Beveridge who is organising opposition to this at https://councilloralanbeveridge.wordpress.com/
