Airdrie Rambler Five Lochs Trail

Some years back I heard talk of a proposed “Five Lochs Trail” which would link Roughrigg Reservoir,  Lilly Loch, Hillend Reservoir, The Black Loch and Forrestburn Reservoir. Whether there is any desire within the local councils for this to go ahead in a time of severe budget cuts I doubt very much. So, inspired by a few books and articles which encouraged readers to create their own trail, I’ve did just that. Yesterday I did a complete round of my own Five Lochs Trail. At around 21 miles long, with around 1000ft of ascent and crossing some of the roughest ground as well as using existing paths and trails, it’s a challenging walk, no mere ramble. I’ll be doing a full trip report on it when I get my breath back…DSCN5892
