An application for the erection of a single wind turbine has been made at Craigens Road, next to Roughrigg Reservoir on behalf on ILI Energy. The turbine, which will be 79m high is assessed to have a significant impact on the surrounding landscape due to its elevated location, and is, according to the application, one of 40 (Yes, FORTY) planned turbines within a 30km radius, including another three on the north side of the reservoir!
Full details of the application, and the facility to object, are available HERE.
Objections are best made with good reason, and it’s worth reading through the application documents to see whether you have worthwhile counter arguments, as these are more likely to be considered than simply saying you do not like windfarms. If anyone knows of any reasons for objection to this particular site, such as rare bird-life in the area please contact me.
