Blackhouse Bridge

On Monday I met with Alex Neil MSP at Blackhouse Bridge and spoke with him about the situation regarding the bridge and the right of way. The bridge itself has now been blocked off and signs are in place warning that it is closed. I explained to Alex about the history of the bridge, and how it is key to maintaining a right of way from Gartness to Carlisle Road. I have a further meeting with North Lanarkshire Council on the same subject next week and he has asked to be kept informed of the outcome, pending his own meeting with the council later on. It’s still very early, and the bridge is by no means saved but at least avenues are being explored as to the future of the bridge. Had it not been for public interest it may well have been demolished by now.
