Windfarm at Caldercruix

Your Energy, the windfarm company, have been posting mailshots to houses in the area affected by their application for another windfarm, between Caldercruix, Plains and Longriggend. They have arranged a series of public meetings to discuss This is a separate development to that at Greengairs Windfarm. Dates and times of meetings are HERE, and the area affected is shown on the map below.

Boundary of the development

I hope to attend at least one meeting and hopefully will find out how many turbines they intend to install, along with how many long term jobs this will provide for local people, how this will affect the price of electricity in the local area, how many conventional power stations will close because of the development, and how many millions of pounds subsidy their company will receive from the Scottish Government for putting this in place, and when they expect to pay the money back into the public purse. I’ll also be interested to know how much CO2 will be displaced, and very importantly what will happen to all the water displaced from the soil, and which areas are likely to be flooded as a result.

With an election looming it’s sad that all the major parties support these developments, and there are none promoting the alternative- wave power.
