Recently I spent the day trying out a new camera, the Nikon P100. While I’m struggling with some of the features, one I have managed to work is the zoom, all 26x of it. It really does do the business, and I was able to get some shots of some of the bigger hills which can be seen from the Blackhill area.
Beating that by around 5 miles was the view to Ben Chonzie.
Topping that was the view across the Braes of Doune, spoiled, but not blocked- to Ben Lawers, a whopping 49 miles distant!
All the hills pictured above can be seen with the naked eye (although without a zoom lens you may struggle to identify some).
From the trig point at Blackhill, if the conditions are right, you can see at least six Munros: Ben Vorlich, Stuc a’ Chroin, Stob Binnean, Beinn Ghlas, Ben Lawers and Ben Chonzie. Strangely, from lower down, at Drumfin Hill at the Lilly Loch, you can see at least seven Munros, all the above plus Ben More (Crianlarich). What a view!
